Port d’Andratx

Port d’Andratx is a port town in the southwest of Mallorca. It is a town firmly in German hands, with wealthy Germans in particular settling here. There are also many tourists, but large parts of Port d’Andratx consist of villas. The construction boom is unbroken, with the upscale settlements continuing to grow up the slopes around the town.

Port d’Andratx with the new houses built up on the hills and the many yachts

The lack of beaches has prevented major tourism. There is no really good beach in Port d’Andratx. Holidaymakers therefore prefer the neighboring town of Camp de Mar.

The center is inviting. The road along the sea is unfortunately very busy, but the parallel road behind it is a small pedestrian zone.

Two things are conspicuously present in Port d’Andratx: real estate agents and the yachts of rich foreigners from Germany. In the harbor of the bay there are thousands of ships of all sizes, which are mainly used for pleasure. In the former fishing village of Port d’Andratx there are only a few fishermen or their fishing boats to be seen. Real estate prices are very high. It is hard to find a good house under a million euros. Many of the rich residents in Port d’Andratx are said to come from and around Düsseldorf. Several times I heard the nickname „Düsseldorfer Eck“ for Port d’Andratx.

Szechenyi tickets

Otherwise, the price level is partly tailored to the wealthy Germans. In many restaurants in Port d’Andratx, you can easily spend €30 or €50 per person for dinner.

Shopping and nightlife

In addition to boutiques and galleries that offer high-quality fashion and art, there are also a few bars and lounges that provide a relaxed nightlife. However, Port d’Andratx is not known for excessive parties, but rather for a stylish ambience.

Accommodation

Finding a room locally is not a problem, at least outside of peak season. However, you should budget at least €100 per night for a double room in Port d’Andratx. There are hardly any cheap rooms or simple guesthouses.

Bus connections Port d’Andratx: There are many buses to nearby Palma, but the journey times are long and the fares are rather high. A single ticket from Palma to Port d’Andratx costs around 6 to 7 euros (2025). The journey takes 50 minutes (distance around 25 kilometers by road). Line 101: Connects Port d’Andratx with other nearby places, e.g. Camp de Mar, Peguera and Santa Ponsa.
